Dental Implants
A dental implant is the best way to replace missing teeth. It involves placing an implant, usually titanium, in the bone. This in turn can then hold a crown (Porcelain tooth), act as support for a bridge (a number of crowns joined together to replace missing teeth), or provide support for an overdenture (A denture that clips onto the implant)
The implant systems we use incorporate the most important factors in good implant design such as an etched surface and internal irrigation (Where, during placement, the cooling irrigation flows through the implant to reach the bone at the bottom)
The duration of the procedure can take anything from 3 to 12 months, depending on many factors such as bone augmenting. Traditionally the implant is placed and the gum is allowed to heal over it for at least 3 months. Then the implant is exposed and a crown, bridge or attachment for a denture can be fixed to the implant.
